Intro to CS & Scratch Coding

Sharing material from a class I will be teaching in the winter of 2025 at a local public library to kids from grades 4 through 7. The material is meant to be engaging and assumes limited to no computing proficiency. I hope you find this interesting!

Week 1: Intro to CS & Scratch Basics

Introduces basic CS concepts and the Scratch interface

Week 2: Event-Driven Programming

Explains the importance of order and event-driven programming

Week 3: Loops & Iteration in Scratch

Introduces your student to loops and repeat / forever blocks

Week 4: Conditionals & Decision Making

Introduces your student to decision making using "if" blocks

Week 5: Variables in Scratch

Demonstrates the value of variables in coding and how these can be used

Week 6: Project Showcase & Wrap-Up

Help students complete a simple project of their choosing
